Privacy policy
Last updated October 18, 2026
The short version
- A parent creates the account. Kids never type an email, a password or anything about themselves.
- For each kid we keep a first name or nickname, a picture they pick from our list, an optional grade, and how their games went.
- No ads, no chat, no photos, no microphone, no location. We never sell or rent anyone’s information.
- Kid pages send nothing to our analytics tool, and the site uses no tracking or advertising cookies.
- You can see, change or delete your kids’ information any time from the Parents page, or by emailing [email protected].
Who we are
Sticker Valley (“we”, “us”) runs the learning games at stickervalley.com. This policy covers the website and the games. If you have a question about it, or want to see or delete your information, email [email protected].
Information a parent gives us
- Your account: your name, email address and password. We store the password only in a scrambled (hashed) form we can’t read back.
- Your parent PIN: the code that keeps kids out of the Parents page and purchases, also stored hashed.
- Your kids’ profiles: for each kid, a name (a first name or nickname is all we need), a picture chosen from our set of animal pictures, and, if you choose, their school grade.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach our servers. We keep a Stripe customer number, which plan you’re on, and the amount and date of each charge.
- Founding Family extras (optional): if you ask for the mailed sticker sheet, the name and postal address you give us; your vote on the next game; and, only if you choose to be listed, a family name shown publicly on our founding families page.
- Email preferences: whether you’ve asked for our news and tips emails. You’re only on that list if you tick the box for it.
- Messages: anything you send us when you email for help.
How you found us: when you sign up, we save where your visit came from with your account: the website that linked to us (just its name, like “google.com”), or a tag in the link you followed (like a teacher’s or newsletter’s “?ref=” code or a campaign name), or “direct” if neither. Your browser holds this for that one tab until you sign up or close it, with no cookie. We use it only to learn which ways of finding us work.
Information created when kids play
When a kid finishes a round we save which game and level it was, how many questions it had, how many they got right on the first try, and when. From that we work out their level in each game, their stars and their streak. That’s what powers the “How they’re doing” page and lets each game start at the right level next time.
Kids can’t type messages, upload anything, or talk to other players, and the games never use the camera, microphone or location. We don’t ask kids for any information about themselves.
Children’s privacy
Sticker Valley is made for children in kindergarten through 3rd grade, so we follow the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). In practice:
- Only a parent or guardian can create an account and add kid profiles. We don’t collect personal information directly from children.
- We collect only what’s needed to run the games and show parents their kids’ progress, and we never require more information for a kid to keep playing.
- A small cookie remembers which kid profile is playing on that device. It’s used only to make the app work, never for advertising or to follow anyone across other sites.
- We don’t show ads, we don’t build marketing profiles of kids, and we don’t sell, rent or share kids’ information for anyone else’s purposes.
- Parents can review their kids’ information on the Parents page, change it with “Edit or remove”, and delete a kid (with all of their scores) with “Remove player”. You can also ask us by email at [email protected] to show you, correct or delete your kids’ information, or to stop collecting it. We’ll confirm the request comes from the account holder before acting on it.
If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent, email [email protected] and we’ll delete it.
How we use information
- To run the games, save progress, and show you how your kids are doing.
- To take payments, manage plans and trials, and send Founding Family stickers.
- To reply when you contact us, and to send you emails about your account, like password resets, receipts and changes to these terms.
- If you opted in, to send you news, tips and new-game announcements. Every one has an unsubscribe link.
- To understand, in aggregate, how families use the site so we can fix problems and make better games.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We don’t use your or your kids’ information for advertising, and we don’t use it to train AI models.
Analytics
We use PostHog (hosted in the U.S.) to count visits and sign-ups on grown-up pages like the home page, pricing and the Parents page. It runs without cookies and keeps nothing in your browser between visits, it doesn’t record your screen, and it respects your browser’s Do Not Track setting. The pages and games kids use send nothing to PostHog from the browser.
To learn which games work, our server also records events like “round finished” or “plan changed”, tied to the parent’s account number. The only thing those events include about a kid is their grade; never their name or picture.
Error reports
When something breaks on a grown-up page, PostHog records an error report so we can fix it: the error message, where in our code it happened, the page address, your browser and device type, and your account number if you’re signed in. Error reports are never sent from the pages and games kids use.
Who we share information with
We share information only with companies that help us run Sticker Valley, only what each one needs, and only to do that job for us:
| Who | What for | What they get |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payments, receipts and the billing portal | Your email, name, card and billing details, and your plan |
| PostHog | Product analytics | Grown-up page visits, error reports, how you found us, and the server events described above. No kid names |
| A text-to-speech provider (such as ElevenLabs or OpenAI) | The voice that reads game questions aloud | Only the words a game reads, like “What is 3 + 4?”. Nothing about you or your kids |
| Resend | Sending account emails, like password resets | Your email address and name, and the email itself |
| EmailOctopus | News and tips emails, only if you ask for them | Your email address, first name and which plan you’re on. Never kids’ names |
| Discord | Alerts to our team about sign-ups and payments | A partly hidden email address (like “al***@example.com”) and amounts. Never kids’ names |
| A postal service | Mailing Founding Family sticker sheets | The name and address you gave for the sheet |
The website, database and voice recordings run on servers we manage ourselves. We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a sale or merger of Sticker Valley, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the site needs to work. None track you across other sites or are used for advertising.
| Cookie | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sign-in session | Keeps a parent signed in on this device |
| kid | Remembers which kid profile is playing on this device |
| parent_ok | Remembers for a short while that the parent PIN was entered |
When you pay, Stripe’s checkout page sets its own cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud.
How long we keep information
- Kid profiles and their scores stay while your account is open. Removing a player deletes their profile and every score right away.
- When you ask us to close your account, we delete it, your kids’ profiles and their progress within 30 days.
- We keep records of charges (amount, date and plan, with no kid information) for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Stripe keeps its own records under its privacy policy.
- Founding Family mailing addresses are kept so we can resend a sheet that goes missing, and are deleted with your account, or sooner if you ask.
How we protect information
The site only works over an encrypted connection. Passwords and PINs are stored hashed, the Parents page sits behind your PIN, and only the people who run Sticker Valley can reach the database. No system is perfectly secure, but if we ever learn of a breach that affects your information, we’ll tell you promptly.
Your choices
- See and change: your kids’ information is on the Parents page. For anything else, email us.
- Delete: remove a player from the Parents page, or email [email protected] to close your whole account.
- Get a copy: email us and we’ll send you your account and your kids’ progress.
- Billing: “Manage billing” on the Parents page lets you change or cancel your plan.
These choices are open to every family, wherever you live. We won’t treat you differently for using them. Depending on your state or country, you may have further rights under local law; email us and we’ll help.
Where information is stored
Sticker Valley is run from the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we handle kids’ information, we’ll email parents first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent again.
