RF.1.3.B is part of the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts. These 3 games practice it. Standards vary by state, so check with your kid’s teacher for the exact match.
Word Mix-Up: A sentence has a blank and a pile of scrambled letter blocks. Kids unscramble the word that finishes it. Words follow phonics patterns in order: short vowels, sh, ch, th, wh and ck, blends, silent e and vowel teams.
Word Factory: A word machine drops a letter in front of a family like -at, -ig or -op. Kids decide if it made a real word or a silly one, make a word they hear, sort words into families and read them.
Bossy R: A bossy rooster shows how r changes the vowel before it. Kids tap the word they hear and read words to match pictures, starting with ar, then or, then er, ir and ur, which sound the same.
